1st Milton Needs You!
Scouts Canada is built upon passionate volunteers who work week over week to ensure that our youth are getting a fun, exciting and engaging hands on program. They believe passionately in the Mission of Scouts Canada: To help develop well rounded youth, better prepared for success in the world. And by the Scout promise; I promise that I will do my best, To respect my country and my beliefs, To help other people at all times; and to carry out the spirit of the Scout Law.
Scouting is for both men and women, and you do not need to be a “Survivorman” or be a backcountry bush crafter to join. In fact no previous experience is required. We work with all volunteers and help them acquire the skills that they need to be successful. Through online and in-person training, as well as coaching and mentoring we make sure that you are prepared… it’s our motto.
Scouting plays a pivotal role in helping young people become amazing adults. And this is due in large part to our Volunteers.
You will be working with an amazing group of people in 1st Milton, and you will have a chance to be engaged and active in the life of your child.
There is an old saying – Many Hands Make Light Work. We all contribute in different ways and to different capacities, each of which are highly valued and combines to allow us to accomplish amazing things bigger than any of us as an individual.
If you can help us, please do.
There are 5 steps that need to be completed before becoming a fully registered volunteer:
- Provide a clean Police Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Complete a screening interview conducted by two Active Scouters who have received interview training.
- Provide three passed reference checks. Note: These references may not be a conflict of interest. Reference checks are conducted primarily by a professional reference checking company
- Complete 5 hours of eLearning that teaches safety and our program, The Canadian Path
- Agree to the Code of Conduct
